Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is a children's doctor, a paediatrician currently imprisoned by Israel under harsh, torturous conditions since 27 December 2024. He has never been charged with any crime. He has never been put on trial. He remains imprisoned without time limit.
His only "crime" was to remain with his patients and his colleagues, and to speak to the world's press about the siege of his hospital in order to get the world's attention. One of his primary concerns was the NICU babies in his care. He was deeply upset that they might face the same fate as the babies left to die in Kamal Adwan Hospital.
